Every month during that “time of the month” (if ya know what I mean) something strange happens to my mouth for a couple days. The insides of my cheeks feel raw and I can’t taste foods as good as I normally can. I looked in my mouth and saw that on the inside of my cheeks there are some patchy red spots (they are very tiny..you can barely see them) but they are on both cheeks and cover probably an inch or so.
What is this? Why does it happen? I don’t use any products on my mouth like mouthwash or teeth whiteners–only toothpaste.
What Is This? Why Does It Happen?

Hormones, hormones, hormones!
Also the reason why you don’t want to wax or have laser hair removal at that time. I will actually ask my patients that usually have healthy gums that all of sudden have bleeding if they are starting their cycle and often they will say yes. Like another poster added, salt water rinsing is good. Also try plain (no whitening or tartar control) toothpaste.
Good luck!

I have issues like that too. My gums and teeth hurt really bad about a week before, it sucks. I think the body’s defenses are down, have you ever noticed you get super tired right before as well? Who knows exactly what that puts your body through.
its probably somthing your eating….right down everything you eat that day and then when you get that weird thing in your mouth check what you ate and you should tell you mom or dad and maybe go to a dentist or docotor?
The plaque in your mouth reacts to the hormones your body produces during that time of the month. It can cause the irritation you’re describing. Rinsing your mouth with warm salt water should help.
i am not sure what it is but u should go to a dentist the next time it happens and talk to him and see what he says when he examines you.
